"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world: indeed it's the only thing that ever has!"
—Margaret Meade
The citizens of German Village are exceptional in their willingness to volunteer time, talent, and resources to the community. Our Oktoberfest event requires 1400 volunteer shifts ~ no one is too pretentious to roll up their sleeves and pour beer for a few hours!
In addition to the jobs like host, tour guide, event planner, public gardener, and litter patrol there is a governing board of trustees, elected by the membership, who steer the German Village Society. The eighteen members of the board are passionate about the organization and its mission. Their service makes a tremendous difference in the neighborhood and is a meaningful contribution to the national historic preservation movement.
