Oktoberfest features traditional German polka as well as various other styles of music, a variety of authentic German food and other festival favorites. Don’t miss Marketplatz, filled with artisans and unique shops. Description: German American Day is a holiday of the United States of America, observed annually on October 6. It was proclaimed in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan to celebrate and honor the history of German American immigration and culture to the United States of America. The date commemorates October 6, 1683, the founding date of Germantown, Pennsylvania, the first German settlement in the original thirteen American colonies. (Germantown is now a neighborhood of Philadelphia.)

Description: Trick or Treat for grownup ghosts & goblins only and with the price of admission, you’ll never know what is up anyone’s sleeve along the route but for certain you’ll get a goodie bag to fill with whatever comes your way. Beware! Following the begging, join the crazy bunch for the Monster Bash in the Fest Hall at the Meeting Haus where there will be dancing, chili, and a costume contest!

Description: Chili and cornbread will be served for this fun, neighborhood autumn get-together. Bring a salad or dessert to share. Reservations are a must; call 221.8888 no later than Thursday, October 20.

Description: The Friends of Frank Fetch Park and the German Village Society welcome Society members and residents and their friends to this annual event. Enjoy mulled cider, hot chocolate, and cookies with special visits from Santa Claus and Pelsnickel.


Village Lights...Dine, Shop & Stroll! Sunday, December 6

Admission: No charge; stroll around and enjoy the Village.
Description: The sound of nearby carolers, the smell of roasted chestnuts, and the glow of thousands of luminaries await you on this evening of holiday hospitality. Our charming neighborhood shops and restaurants welcome you with holiday cheer and unique offerings as only German Village can. Enjoy hot cider as you take a winter’s walk along our famous bricked streets. This night in German Village is sure to become one of your favorite holiday traditions.

Description: The annual holiday concert includes traditional music as well as original holiday music composed and conducted by John Carter.

Admission: Free but bring a casserole!
Description: The German Village Fun Committee cordially invites all members of the Society to this annual sing-along potluck supper. Bring your favorite dish to share and come prepared to sing.
