Columbus, OH USA - The American Bus Association (ABA) has named the 2006 German Village Haus & Garten Tour, taking place in Columbus's historic German Village neighborhood to its prestigious "100 Best" Events listing. This honor marks the fourth year in a row that a central Ohio event has been awarded this distinction. The 2005 Dublin Irish Festival (August 4-7, 2005) and the 2004 Franklin Park Bloom's & Butterflies events both received ABA's Top 100 Best Events list honor. The Top 100 Events list is published in the September 2005 issue of Destinations magazine, and can be found on line at www.buses.org. Complete information on the Haus & Garten Tour is found on www.ExperienceColumbus.com or by calling 1-866-EXP-COLS.
The 2006 German Village Haus & Garten Tour, held Sunday, June 25, is one of just two events selected from the entire state of Ohio, from 12 events submitted. It was chosen from the hundreds of U.S. and Canadian events that were nominated by state and regional tourism offices and visitors bureaus. ABA launched the Top 100 Events program in 1982 to assist its motorcoach tour members, who are always seeking fresh and exciting tour itineraries. Event and festival planners around the US and Canada covet a place on the Top 100 list, which marks their recognition by jury of tour planning professionals as being officially "worth the trip!"
Judges considered the event's broad appeal, its accessibility to motorcoach tours and large groups, along with other relevant criteria. Because objective quality factors are used in the judging process, some states and provinces do not receive any Top 100 designations this year, while others may be host to multiple events.
The American Bus Association is the trade organization of the intercity bus tour industry with more than 3200 members doing business in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Its members operate charter, tour, regular route, airport express, special operations, contract and supplier services.
